About low Prices

So you are getting ready to undertake some improvements on your home. One temptation may be to go with the lowest priced contractor in order to afford more improvements. think of it this way, your home is your single largest investment, do you want to trust it to the lowest priced contractor?

There are many factors that go into pricing a job. Most "low priced" contractors aren't good at pricing. They don't take the time to study your project, and sometimes don't understand what is involved in your project. the results of these mistakes are either cost overruns or shoddy workmanship. A contractor can afford to stay at a job for the time that they have allotted. if a project becomes more complicated as it goes on, the contractor must make up for it. the only way to do this is cost overruns or cut labor time (cutting corners). is this what you want? we have been to many a house to fix other contractors mistakes. I actually feel sorry for the people because now the lowest price just became real expensive!

Another "low priced" contractor gimmick is to cut corners on materials. cheap windows, siding and roofs are the most common examples. there is a large gap in the cost of quality materials and the cost of cheap ones. if a contractor uses quality materials his price must be higher than his cheap materials competitor. Do you want cheap materials used at your house? A great price usually includes cheap materials.

In short don't make your decision based only on price. we will even give you hints on finding a contractor.  your home is your most prized possession don't trust it to just anyone!
